Chaos has launched V-Ray 6 for 3ds Max Update 1, which brings more time-saving, faster and more perfect rendering. Let's take a look at what's new.
Masking for Lens Effects and Denoiser
Post-production control is enhanced with masking support for lens effects and denoiser layers. You can select specific lights and materials to apply lens effects to, or denoise only the parts of the image you want to smooth out.
V-Ray Light Material Post-processing
You can use LightMix to fine-tune your V-Ray lighting materials. You can edit the self-illuminating objects in your scene with more control now, even after you have rendered them.
Decal Cylindrical Projection & Additive Bumps

With V-Ray Decal, it is easy to project one material on top of another, such as adding anything from stickers and labels to different kinds of surface imperfections to cylinder-like objects such as bottles, jars, cups, etc. It is also possible to create realistic stickers, labels, embossed logos, letters, etc., or easily create effects such as spray or paint on cracked walls, corroded metal or any other uneven surface.
Other updates include: initial USD export and USD stage support, faster fog rendering, faster heavy scene loading, custom resolution per camera, viewport composition guides, enhanced procedural clouds, NVIDIA AI denoiser upscaling, updates to V-Ray GPU, and etc.
