Adapted from Crockett Johnson's 1995 children's book of the same name, Harold and the Purple Crayon, the live-action comedy film is coming to theaters this August 2 by Sony Pictures. It's directed by Carlos Saldanha, screenplay by David Guion & Michael Handelman, and produced by John Davis, starring Zachary Levi, Lil Rel Howery, Benjamin Bottani, Jemaine Clement, Tanya Reynolds, Alfred Molina, and Zooey Deschanel.

It is actually a sequel to the original story that follows the grown-up Harold. In the book, Harold has a purple crayon that can bring anything he draws to life, and using the crayon, he and his friends go into the real world. But in the real world, that magic crayon could lead to trouble when it falls into the wrong hands.
