After the 2018’s acquisition by Mayfair, Pixomondo was sold to Sony Pictures Entertainment in October, 2022. Under the deal, Sony Pictures acquired 100% of Pixomondo in this acquisition, and Pixomondo’s CEO Jonny Slow will continue to lead this renown visual production company, which took part in many famous films and TV series productions, such as House of the Dragon, Games of Thrones, and the thrilling 2023 Avatar movie Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Founded in 2021 in Germany, the team of Pixomondo is an Oscar and Emmy award winning company focussed on VFX production. Under the ownership of Mayfiar, a technology and consumer investor, Pixomondo has grown from a VFX-specialized team into a stronger team that can provide outstanding creative services including visual effects productions and stronger capabilities in post-production.

Comments say that this acquisition of Sony Pictures is quite a smart move. Pixomondo has worked with Sony Pictures Television before on its TV series The Boys, but this time’s partnership is definitely different, with larger visions and bigger goals. Sony Pictures Entertainment, which is already a world-leading content creation and virtual production enterprise, will keep on enhancing its growth in providing premium and world-class TV and film content. According to Ravi Ahuja, chairman of Global TV Studios and SPE Corporate Development, the corporation and partnership with Pixomondo will allow Pixomondo’s capabilities to make Sony’s content production more exceptional.
