An Honorary mention went to Directors Matthew Luhn and Hjalti Hjalmarssonj, Blender Studio Netherlands for Sprite Fright.CAF Chair, Dan Sarto said, “This year’s SACAF submissions once again reflected an incredibly diverse, passionate, and innovative group of artists, technologists, and researchers, harnessing a variety of animation techniques and tools to create funny, thought-provoking, and visually engaging work.”XR (Extended Reality)XRXRAYHEAD by Kento Imai, Haruka Kayano and Kenri Kodaka from Nagoya City University created a striking illusion of a skull when the top of the head is touched. The ingenious illusion works with an experimental setup where the participant is faced with a specially designed smart-skeleton through a half-mirror. XR Program Chair said, "This year’s XR program shows key elements of XR experiences. Ranging from innovative methods on XR interactions including walking, jumping to door opening. We also experienced immersive applications including education, art performance, dancing, and boxing. We even showcased entering the realms of metaverse and interacting with robots with real and virtual bodies and enhanced ability with a new avatar. It was also possible for visitors to take a journey in the comic world, be a part of the birth of earth life forms, and take a look inside your head with XRAYHEAD!"Emerging TechnologiesEmerging TechnologiesIn the Emerging Technologies program, the mind-bending Extra-Sensory Puck (E.S.P.) in Air Hockey using the Projection-Based Illusion was declared the winner. E.S.P. is designed by Kengo Sato, Yoshihiro Watanabe from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Hiroki Terashima from NTT Communication Science Laboratories and Shin'ya Nishida from Kyoto University. It provides a new experience by introducing optical illusions to air hockey based on our high-speed projector-camera system. A solid puck randomly hit by a player is camouflaged to disappear on the table and causes various physics-defying motions.Hye Yeon Nam, SIGGRAPH Asia 2022 Emerging Technologies Chair said, “Emerging Technologies program gave a chance for visitors to experience innovative and creative projects at SIGGRAPH Asia 2022. New feature AI Denoiser Will Come to Renderman 25

Tons of research results, demos, educational sessions, screenings, hands-on interactivity, and commercial exhibits displaying the industry's latest advances in this exciting five days event no doubt attract the most talented CG people all over the world.But >Fox Renderfarm, the world’s leading commercial render farm with hundreds of thousands of users worldwide, is thrilled to be at Siggraph for another epic and exciting week, and most importantly observed the huge shift in how studios are using and considering the Cloud since for 3D artwork rendering.During the exhibition, Fox Renderfarm interacted with existing and potential clients, shared the cool features of our product and exclusive behind the scenes look into this year’s biggest blockbusters. Robert Wong-the Vice President of the BC Cultural Affairs Office of Canada, Tomasz Bednarz-Chairman of SIGGRAPH Asia 2019, and June Kim-SIGGRAPH IRC manager came to our booth to communicate and give an appreciation of the achievements that Fox Renderarm has accomplished in 2018. Experience it today!Exhibitor Talks covered technical topics such as using Houdini in medical product design and medical visualization; digital content creation on AWS; IMAGICA GROUP and Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology’s R&x26;D on video content creation for their innovative displays on how to provide viewers with visual experiences; and NTT Human Informatics Laboratories sharing of the cutting-edge Tokyo Olympics 2020 project and the world of live entertainment in the Metaverse era.The Experience Hall, held in the same venue as the Trade Exhibition, encompasses the Art Gallery, Emerging Technologies and XR showcases. In the Art Gallery, 15 cutting-edge works were selected from 147 submissions around the world, addressing questions of what the rituals, behaviors and modes of the future will look like in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Art Gallery Curation Committee also hosted a gallery tour for the Japanese audience during the exhibition days. Additionally, Art Gallery talks were held virtually to discuss the future of art and the role of art gallery in the face of new factors such as the pandemic and NFTs.The Emerging Technologies program, themed “Awaken Our Bodies”, showcased 19 exhibits onsite and online which included novel and high-quality 3D projection mapping technologies, haptic interfaces, robotic avatars and virtual humans, input interfaces, music experiences, and VR experiences with novel sensations like wet, temperature, wind, and scent. Live demonstrations and Q&A sessions took place concurrently for both onsite and online delegates.Attendees explored the XR program to discover 19 immersive technologies and experiences such as Dislocation, which examined the internal processes that develop during a dislocation and offers a visual depiction of a person forced into extreme circumstances. Another interesting XR showcase was the Dementia Eyes – a mobile AR experience which simulates the visual symptoms of senile dementia based on pathology and medical workers’ experience with patients. Live demonstrations and Q&A sessions took place concurrently for both onsite and online delegates.Live drawing performances and CG Production Meetup also took place at the Experience Hall Talk Stage, in the Experience Hall. The live drawing performances by BANDAI NAMCO Studios, Ubisoft Entertainment, SQUARE ENIX and SAFEHOUSE were spectacular and had overwhelming attendance onsite. These live performances were recorded and will be uploaded onto the virtual platform for the online attendees. CG Production Meetup featured 48 companies from the Games, Interactive Techniques, Computer Graphics and Animation space, and attracted over 300 students for the 2 sessions on 15 and 16 December 2021.Real-Time Live!, a showcase of virtual technologies demonstrated live in front of our onsite and online attendees, wrapped up SIGGRAPH Asia 2021.
